“My personal work utilizes photography and mixed media and explores themes of environment, home, family and history.” Past exhibitions include galleries such as COCA in Seattle, the Portland Art Museum, Portland Center for the Visual Arts, Southern Exposure in San Francisco and LACE in Los Angeles. Past grants and numerous commissions were received for collaborative interdisciplinary work from organizations such as the National Endowment for the Arts, the Oregon Arts Commission, Seattle Arts Commission, Bumbershoot Festival, Seattle and the Metropolitan Arts Commission, Portland, Oregon.
My background is in art and photography and I work to foster strength and integrity in photographers’ images. I’m a creative person with a lot of ingenuity, seeking creative answers to big and little questions in a photographer’s work. I know what it means to put yourself out there with your own pictures and I’ll offer ideas, critique and guidance in an effective diplomatic fashion. I’m an aesthetic problem solver and I approach most creative dilemmas with an excellent eye, great instincts, a large worldview, eager and dogged determination and a sense of humor. Whether a question is specific to images, editing, or whether it’s a question of bringing images to a business to enhance business, I can help bring out the best in your work. Via writing and publicity skills, I can help build an audience for your work and your business. If your goals are simpler, I can help you have more fun taking pictures, even if it’s not your day job.

Photographers I’ve worked with:
“You are one of the best that I’ve ever worked with. One who is an artist and understands the artists’ mind. ” Dan Winters
“It’s so refreshing to work with photo editor who really knows how to pair the right projects and style with a photographer who fits that vision perfectly. Not to mention, your awesome sense of humor.” Ramona Rosales
“It has been such a joy to work with you, and I can say in all honesty that my favorite pictures of last year were the ones we did together.” Andrew Macpherson
“Kathleen was one of the first Photo Editors to feature my work, and years later, when I ran into her at an opening, she remembered my work and greeted me like an old friend. I am grateful for her warmth, engaged spirit, and for being a true advocate for photographers. Recently, I met with a group of photographers who had attended Review LA…and her name came up over and over as one of the best reviewers. Each described her as full of ideas, totally engaged and encouraging, and what a pleasure it was to meet with her. Needless to say, I couldn’t agree more.” Aline Smithson, Lenscratch.com
“You are by far the best photo editor I’ve ever worked for. I have sold many images from jobs I did for you as “art”.” Felipe Dupouy
“You were the first editor that took a chance on me and gave me my first assignment out of school … You take chances on new artists which is a sign of an edgy and intuitive editor.” Marla Rutherford
